Peak Dot Ranch consists of 9000 acres including 3500 acres
of tame hay. The Ranch is made up of rolling hills and trees with
creeks that run all winter and spring fed dams. There is a lot of
history in the "Wood Mountain Hills" and it is one of the
elite ranching areas in Saskatchewan. It is a great place to run black
cows and raise a family. Peak Dot Ranch has been in the purebred business
for over forty years and is now one of the larger purebred Angus outfits
in Canada with approximately 750 cows.
For over forty years back in the grass filled hills
of Wood Mountain, we have been carefully building our idea of what
Angus cattle should look like. We build bulls to work in our environment,
to calve easy, to wean heavy calves and to grow to a moderate mature
weight. We have bred out udder problems in our cow herd and are
very critical of feet and legs on our herd bulls.
Peak Dot Ranch has 750 mature cows that produce bulls
which we market through a spring sale, as well as a December sale.
We sell approximately 250 bulls annually. Peak Dot Ranch is a one
iron outfit. We feed our own bulls, manage our own sale, print our
own books, handle sight unseen purchases, and hold our sale in a
new sale barn on the ranch. It is a family run operation.
We stand behind our cattle 100% because we believe
that it is a lot easier to keep our old customers than to constantly
be looking for new ones.

In 2010, Peak Dot began a new business venture. We have teamed up with Owen Cairns and Tracy Weist from Hillcrest Enterprises. The Hillcrest Feedlot is a newly constructed 3000 head feed yard just 40
minutes east of Peak Dot Ranch. We are very excited about the
marketing options that we can offer our customers. Our goal is to
fill the lot with all Peak Dot sired cattle and put dollars back into
the pockets of the people who have helped us stay in business. We
will be using the services of JGL Livestock to do the purchasing of
the calves from the ranch. We encourage you to drop by the feedlot anytime for a tour. Hillcrest also runs one of the leading
commercial recipient herds in the nation and has been running an
embryo program for Peak Dot the last two years. We would also like to
thank Hillcrest for the purchase of over 200 purebred females this
past year.
