As you know, all cattle are bought by the pound. Early growth to market weight is the only weight that producers are paid for. We believe that you cannot have too much growth as long as that growth is in the "right package". Cattle with extended growth curves "miss the target" and result in cows that require too much feed to do their job. Therefore, in our herd we search for bulls with as much yearling weight as possible, providing we can get the added growth with an acceptable birth weight, adequate milk and practical mature size.

This calving ease bull records a breed leading EPD portfolio and offers as much natural thickness and volume as any other Traveler 004 son to date. At weaning time in September, Carson and Terry picked 5234 as the best bull out of nearly 500 bulls. The day before the sale we went through the bulls again and Clay's number one pick was 5234. Terry says, "This bull could be the best herd bull prospect I have ever seen. Wide in his pins, exceptional width in his quarter, clean sheath, excellent scrotal development, and general disposition." We thought that 5234 and Autograph were the two thickest bulls in Schaff's 2006 sale and in our minds were steady standouts.

The feet on this bull are impeccable, the best we have ever seen, a big solid foot with lots of heel and just the right angle to his hoof structure. A definite foot improver for the Angus breed.
